The KBO playoffs are officially right around the corner and only two games separate the 2nd and 5th seed. With such pressure on these teams to perform down the stretch, we’re going to see a lot of great games today. Here are the best bets for Sunday, October 18th:

The Wyverns are well out of the playoff picture this season sitting 34.5 games out of first place but have won six of their last ten games. With a struggling pitcher in Ricardo Pinto (6-14; 6.19 ERA) taking the mound the recent hot streak may be coming to a close. The SK Wyverns have really struggled against the KT Wiz this season winning just three of 15 matchups, they may not win this game but facing off against Lee Dae-eun (0-4; 5.86 ERA) they should be able to scrape across enough runs to lead this total going over. The KT Wiz are one of the best offenses in the KBO this season averaging 5.53 runs per game and with two struggling pitchers, this total goes over.

Doosan Bears at Kiwoom Heroes

The Kiwoom Heroes come in red hot having won four straight games and took care of the Bears 5-3 yesterday. The Bears have lost back to back games to the Heroes and have dropped to 7.5 games back of first place but hang onto the last playoff spot by 6. This will likely end up being a pitchers duel with two excellent pitchers taking the mound, the Bears will start Raul Alcantara who is 17-2 with a 2.67 ERA on the year. Eric Jokisch will get the start for the Heroes, he is 12-5 with a 2.02 ERA on the year. In an evenly matched battle, I give the advantage to the Bears and Raul Alcantara who is 2-0 with a 0.45 ERA when facing the Heroes this season. Coming in as a small underdog, I like the Bears to win this game.
