Royals vs Marlins Picks and Prediction – 6/5/2023

In Monday night MLB action, the Kansas City Royals will travel to loanDepot Park to battle the Miami Marlins. The Royals (18-41) have lost 23 of their first 32 road games and own the second worst overall record in the majors. On Sunday, SP Brady Singer (4-4) fanned seven batters across five plus frames to lead Kansas City to a 2-0 home victory versus Colorado. 

Twenty-six year old righty Carlos Hernandez (4.76 ERA) will make his third start of the season for the Royals. Hernandez, who also has 22 appearances out of the bullpen, has struck out 38 batters through 28 plus innings.

The Miami Marlins have won three straight games and trail NL East Division leading Atlanta by three full games. On Sunday, 2B Luis Arraez broke an eighth inning tie with a run scoring single to lift Miami to a 7-5 home victory versus lowly Oakland. DH Garrett Cooper tied the game with a three-run blast in the fifth inning for the Marlins (32-28), who improved to 18-13 at home.

Miami manager Skip Schumaker will turn to talented left-hander Braxton Garrett (1-2 4.22 ERA) on Monday. In his last start, Garrett (5.1 IP) allowed one run and struck out seven batters during a 2-1 home victory versus San Diego.
