Kansas City Royals at Detroit Tigers 9/29/22 - MLB Picks & Predictions

AL Central Division bottom feeders will square off on Thursday afternoon, when the Kansas City Royals take on the Detroit Tigers from Comerica Park. The Royals (63-92) have dropped 50 of their 74 road games and have their sights set on the future. Last night, Kansas City went 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left 13 men on base during a 2-1 road loss against Detroit.

Twenty-five year old righty Jonathan Heasley (4-8 4.87 ERA) will take the mound for the Royals in this matchup. Last time out, Heasley allowed one run across six solid frames during a 4-1 home victory versus Minnesota.

The Detroit Tigers are riding a five-game winning streak and with a win in this game would escape the division basement. On Wednesday, veteran DH Miguel Cabrera's two-run blast in the first inning would be all the offense that Detroit would need. Daniel Norris (1-4) tossed two scoreless inning of relief and was awarded the win for the Tigers (62-92).

The Tigers will counter with talented left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez (4-5 4.37 ERA) in the series finale. In his last start, Rodriguez allowed three runs in six innings during a 5-3 road victory against Chicago.

Detroit SP Matt Manning was scratched from Wednesday’s start with arm fatigue and is likely to be shut down for the season. Through 155 games, Kansas City ranks 24th in OPS and 24th in runs scored. For the season, Detroit ranks 30th in OPS and 30th in runs scored. Take the under. Final Score Prediction, Detroit Tigers win 3-2.
