Twenty-four year old southpaw Kris Bubic (3-6 5.09 ERA) will head to the hill for the Royals in this contest. Last time out, Bubic was tagged for seven runs and recorded just four outs during a 7-2 home loss versus St. Louis.
The Chicago Cubs were major sellers at the trade deadline and have dropped eight of their last ten games. During Friday’s loss, Chicago managed just five hits and struck out 13 times. SP Zach Davies (6-10) surrendered four runs in six innings and took the loss for the Cubs, who were defeated for the 70th time this season.
Twenty-six year old righty Keegan Thompson (3-2 2.21 ERA) will make his second start of the season for the Cubs. Thompson, who has been used primarily as a reliever, has fanned 43 batters across 40 plus innings.
