Jays at Yankees 9/21/19 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Saturday MLB schedule will get underway with a matinee between the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees from the Bronx. Toronto has been eliminated from postseason contention and is rebuilding around a talented, young core. Rookie 3B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. leads the Blue Jays with a .274 batting average.

Rookie right-hander T.J. Zeuch (1-0 4.61 ERA) will make his second career major league start for the Blue Jays. Control has been an issue for Zeuch, who has walked eight batters in 13 plus innings of work.

The New York Yankees have dealt with a slew of injuries and still managed to run away with the AL East Division title. The only thing left for the Yankees to play for over the final week of the season is home field advantage. All-Star IF D.J. LeMahieu has been a force all season long and leads New York with a .329 batting average to go along with 25 home runs and 97 RBIs.

New York manager Aaron Boone will give the nod to hard-throwing lefty James Paxton (14-6 3.88 ERA) on Saturday. Paxton has won nine straight starts and has allowed just 15 runs total over that stretch.

New York DH Edwin Encarnacion (oblique) went through agility drills before Thursday’s game. Through 154 games, Toronto ranks 23rd in OPS and 22nd in runs scored. For the season, New York ranks 2nd in OPS and 1st in runs scored. Take the Yankees to cruise behind Paxton on Saturday. Final Score Prediction, New York Yankees win 5-2.
