Two of the best teams in the American League will clash on Sunday afternoon, when the Cleveland Indians battle the New York Yankees in the Bronx. On Saturday, Cleveland scored two runs in the first inning on a Carlos Santana single before losing by a 6-5 final score. Francisco Lindor and Oscar Mercado scored two runs apiece for the Indians, who trail first place Minnesota by two full games in the AL Central Division.

Twenty-eight year old righty Mike Clevinger (7-2 3.34 ERA) will take the mound for the Indians in this matchup. Through 67 plus innings, Clevinger has struck out 95 batters and owns a solid 1.13 WHIP. The New York Yankees allowed 19 runs during Thursday’s series opening loss, but have bounced back with consecutive one-run victories. Yesterday, SS Gleyber Torres smacked two of the four home runs to power the New York offense. D.J. LeMahieu and Didi Gregorius also went deep for the Yankees, who are 30 games above .500 at home.

Veteran left-hander C.C. Sabathia (5-6 4.78 ERA) will come off the injured list to start for the Yankees. Sabathia, who has been out with a knee injury, has surrendered 24 home runs in 90 plus innings.

New York OF Giancarlo Stanton (knee) has been hitting off a tee and hopes to return next month. Through 124 games, Cleveland ranks 16th in OPS and 17th in runs scored.
