An interleague series will continue on Saturday afternoon, when the Cleveland Indians and Washington Nationals square off from the nation’s capital. Last night, Cleveland managed just three hits during a 8-2 road loss. Francisco Lindor drove in his 73rd run for the Indians, who were eliminated from postseason contention.
Twenty-seven year old righty Adam Plutko (7-4 4.25 ERA) will make his 20th start of the season for the Indians. Last time out, Plutko allowed one run over four plus innings during a 10-1 home victory versus Philadelphia.
The Washington Nationals have clinched one of the two NL Wild Card spots and are looking to clinch home field advantage for that game. On Friday, Washington exploded for five runs during the sixth inning to break open a tie game. Gerardo Parra homered and drove in four runs for the Nationals, who won for the 91st time.
The Nationals will give the nod to thirty year old left-hander Patrick Corbin (14-7 3.05 ERA) on Saturday. Corbin has won three straight starts and has allowed just four runs over his last 18 innings of work.
