The Houston Astros and Tampa Bay Rays are set to meet in game 1 of the ALCS as they will meet at Petco Park in San Diego, California. The Houston Astros are coming off a 3-1 series win over their AL West divisional rivals in the Oakland Athletics with their latest victory being an 11- 6 game. SP Zack Greinke received the starting nod for the Houston Astros, and he struggled as he gave up 4 earned runs in 4.2 innings. SS Carlos Correa had a big game from the plate for the Astros as he went 3 for 4 with 1 HR and 5 RBIs which pushed his postseason total to 4 HRs and 12 RBIs.

The Houston Astros are set to start Framber Valdez (5-3, 3.57 ERA) who had success in his latest start as he gave up 2 earned runs in 7 innings against the Oakland Athletics in the ALDS. Framber Valdez has never recorded an appearance against the Tampa Bay Rays in his short career, but he has had success in 8 night starts this season with a 5-1 record.

The Tampa Bay Rays come into this series after defeating their AL East rival in the New York Yankees in 5 games with their latest win coming in impressive fashion as they won 2-1. SP Tyler Glasnow received the starting nod in the opener role, and he had success as he pitched 2.1 hitless innings. INF Michael Brosseau had a successful game from the plate as a pinch-hitter as he went 2 for 2 with the game-winning HR in the bottom of the 8th.

The Tampa Bay Rays are set to start Blake Snell (4-2, 3.42 ERA) who struggled in his latest start as he gave up 4 earned runs in 5 innings against the New York Yankees in the ALDS. Blake Snell struggled in his 1 start against the Houston Astros during the 2019 season as he gave up 5 earned runs in 6 innings.

The Houston Astros have been very impressive during the playoffs as they have put up at least 5 runs over the last 4 games, and they will need the bats to show up once again against the stout Tampa Bay pitching staff. The Houston Astros will be throwing one of their better pitchers in Framber Valdez as the lefty has developed into a very dependable starter. The Astros have been very impressed with the play out of Carlos Correa as he is leading the team with 4 HRs and 12 RBIs, but he hasn’t been the only source of production as Springer, Brantley, and Altuve have been a factor. Blake Snell wasn’t great in his postseason start against the Yankees, and the Astros are just way too scary right now to go against. Final Score Prediction, Houston Astros win 5-3.
