Houston Astros at Baltimore Orioles 9/25/22 - MLB Picks & Predictions

Beautiful Camden Yards will play host to a Sunday afternoon MLB battle between the Houston Astros and the Baltimore Orioles. The Astros have already clinched the AL West Division title and hold a 5.5 game lead over New York for the best overall record in the American League. Slugger Yordan Alvarez leads Houston with a .301 batting average and 37 home runs.

Twenty-five year old righty Cristian Javier (10-9 2.77 ERA) will take the mound for the Astros in this matchup. Houston has won Javier’s last three starts and he has allowed just one run over his last 16 plus frames.

The Baltimore Orioles have turned the corner this season for manager Brandon Hyde and are still in contention for a wild card spot. A major reason for the Baltimore turnaround is a pitching staff that ranks 13th in the majors with a 3.86 team ERA. Last night, OF Anthony Santander hit his team-high 28th home run for the Orioles.

The Orioles will counter with thirty year old right-hander Austin Voth (5-3 4.32 ERA) on Sunday. Last time out, Voth gave up two runs in five innings during a 3-2 home loss versus Detroit.

Houston OF Michael Brantley will miss the remainder of the season after having surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. Through 153 games, Houston ranks 8th in OPS and 8th in runs scored. For the season, Baltimore ranks 23rd in OPS and 22nd in runs scored. Take the under. Final Score Prediction, Houston Astros win 4-2.
