Houston Astros at Arizona D-Backs 8/4/20 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Houston Astros open a three-game interleague series on the road at Chase Field against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday. Houston improved to 5-4 following a 6-5 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday.  Alex Bregman's single in the 11th inning knocked in the winning run for the Astros. Houston is tied in first place with the Oakland Athletics in the American League West 1 ½ games ahead of both Seattle in Texas.

Michael Brantley is leading Houston in hitting with a batting average of .438 and in hits with 14. George Springer and Alex Bregman lead the Astros in home runs with two each, while Springer is the RBI leader with seven. On Tuesday, the Astros will send Framber Valdez to the mound. The left-hander is 0-1 with an ERA of 2.53, 10 Ks and 2 BBs. 

Arizona dropped to 3-7 following 3-0 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday. Arizona lost three of four to the Dodgers over the weekend and have lost five of their last seven. The Diamondbacks are already four games out of first place after just 10 games played. Arizona's only real threat were two consecutive singles in the fourth inning but that was followed by two straight outs to end the inning.

Christian Walker is leading Arizona in hitting with a batting average of .314 and in RBIs with six. Kole Calhoun is tied with Ketel Marte for the lead in home runs with one each and Marte is leading in hits with 12. On Tuesday, Arizona will send Madison Bumgarner to the mound. The southpaw is 0-1 with an ERA of 4.09, 9 Ks and 4 BBs.
