The National League West champion Los Angeles Dodgers play the second game of a three-game series on the road against the San Diego Padres on Wednesday. Los Angeles was off on Monday and defeated the Colorado Rockies Sunday 7-4. Hyun-Jin Ryu helped his cause with a home run and threw seven strong innings in the Dodgers win. Cody Bellinger blasted a grand slam as the Dodgers reached 100 wins for the season.
The Padres did not play Monday and San Diego snapped a three-game losing streak Sunday by beating the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-4. Seth Mejias-Brean provided the big play for the Padres with a two-out, two-run home run in the 10th inning. The win was the first for Rod Barajas the new interim manager for the Padres who took over after the organization fired Andy Green.
Cody Bellinger leads the Dodgers with a .302 batting average, 164 hits, 46 home runs and 114 RBIs. The Dodgers are averaging .257 at the plate, while opponents are averaging .224. On Wednesday, the Dodgers will send Ross Stripling to the mound. The right-hander is 4-4 with an ERA of 3.32, 85 Ks and 19 BBs.
