The Arizona Diamondbacks conclude their three-game series at Coors Field on Sunday against the Colorado Rockies.
Arizona won the opening game of the series on Friday 9-4 to extend their first place lead over the Rockies to 1 ½ games. The loss was Colorado’s second straight and sixth in its last eight outings. Paul Goldschmidt led a rare Arizona show of offense with a pair of home runs and a double. It was Goldschmidt’s second consecutive game with three or more hits and since the start of June has raised his batting average 32 points. David Peralta and Jake Lamb hit home runs as well and Zack Greinke pitched a strong 5 2/3 innings to go to 5-4 on the season.
David Peralta leads the Diamondbacks with a .264 batting average and team highs in home runs with 11 and hits with 58. Daniel Descalso leads the D-Backs with 31 RBIs. Arizona has a team batting average of .220 while opposing hitters are averaging .232 at the plate against Diamondbacks pitching. On Sunday, the D-Backs will send Zack Godley to the mound. The right-hander this season is 5-5 with a 5.12 ERA, 62 Ks and 33 BBs.
Nolan Arenado leads the Rockies with a .324 batting average and a team high in hits with 71.Charlies Blackmon leads in home runs with 13 and Trevor Story leads the team in RBIs with 41. Colorado has a team batting average of .245 while opposing hitters are averaging .260 at the plate against Rockies pitching. On Sunday, the Rockies will send Kyle Freeland to the mound.
