Diamondbacks at Padres 9/22/19 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Arizona Diamondbacks conclude their three-game series on the road Sunday against the San Diego Padres. Arizona defeated the Padres in the opening game of the series on Friday 9-0. Rookie Merrill Kelly threw second strong innings while Josh Rojas belted a double with the bases loaded that brought home three runs, as the D-Backs scored seven runs in the eighth. 

The loss was San Diego’s eighth in its last nine and errors were a key to the loss. Eric Hosmer committed a pair of errors at first base. At the plate, Hosmer and Josh Naylor each had three strikeouts. Manny Machado did not attempt to tag out Adam Jones advancing to third on a ground out after Jones ran out of the baseline but since no tag was attempted, Jones was not ruled out.

Eric Hosmer is leading the Padres with a .273 batting average in RBIs with 96 and in hits with 162. Hunter Renfroe leads in home runs with 32.
