The Thursday MLB schedule will get underway with a matinee between the Arizona Diamondbacks and New York Mets from Citi Field. Last night, Arizona went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position during a 9-0 road loss against New York. SP Robbie Ray was roughed up for five runs and recorded just two outs for the Diamondbacks, who are four games above .500 overall.

Rookie left-hander Alex Young (7-3 3.38 ERA) will make his 13th major league start for the Diamondbacks. Through 66 plus innings, Young has struck out 58 batters and owns an impressive 1.05 WHIP.

The New York Mets have won 41 of their 70 home games and are trying to make a late surge for a wild card spot. On Wednesday, New York SP Steven Matz struck out seven batters and allowed four hits in six innings to improve to 10-8 on the year. Jeff McNeil and Todd Frazier each went deep twice for the Mets, who are 2.5 games back in the wild card race. 

Twenty-eight year old righty Marcus Stroman (1-2 5.05 ERA) will make his eighth start for the Mets. Stroman, who was traded from Toronto, has been tagged for 10 runs over his last 16 innings of work.

Arizona OF David Peralta will miss the rest of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery. Through 146 games, Arizona ranks 12th in OPS and 10th in runs scored. For the season, New York ranks 13th in OPS and 15th in runs scored. Take the Mets to sweep the Diamondbacks. Final Score Prediction, New York Mets win 5-3.
