Diamondbacks at Giants 6/6/18 - MLB Picks & Predictions

NL West Division foes will square off on Wednesday afternoon, when the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Francisco Giants wrap up their series from AT&T Park. Last night, Arizona scored two runs in the second inning and held on for a 3-2 victory. SP Patrick Corbin struck out seven batters over six plus frames for the Diamondbacks, who hold a one game lead over Colorado for first place.

Veteran right-hander Clay Buchholz (1-1 1.50 ERA) will make his fourth start as a member of the Diamondbacks. Through 18 innings of work, Buchholz has struck out 14 batters and owns a sparkling 0.67 WHIP. The San Francisco Giants welcomed SP Madison Bumgarner back from a finger injury and he could make a major impact on the pennant race. On Tuesday, Bumgarner allowed eight hits and two runs over six innings of work. The Giants fell to a game below .500 overall and two full games out of first place.

The Giants will counter with twenty-seven year old righty Chris Stratton (7-3 4.50 ERA) in the series finale. Stratton has won four consecutive starts and has allowed ten runs over his last 21 innings of work.

San Francisco SP Johnny Cueto (elbow) could return by the end of this month. Through 60 games, Arizona ranks 30th in batting average and 26th in runs scored. For the season, San Francisco ranks 3rd in batting average and 17th in runs scored. The Giants had their five-game winning streak snapped last night and will bounce back with a win on Wednesday. Final Score Prediction, San Francisco Giants win 5-3.
