The Arizona Diamondbacks play the second game of their three-game series on the road against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday.
On Sunday, the D-Back lost for the fourth straight time and dropped to 25-21 but remained in first place in the NL West. Arizona was beaten by the New York Mets 4-1 and swept in the weekend series before heading to Milwaukee.
Milwaukee had its three-game winning streak snapped on Sunday by Minnesota 3-1. The Brewers are now 28-19 and lead the NL Central by 1 ½ games over the St. Louis Cardinals.
Last week the Brewers beat Arizona in two of three games at Arizona outscoring the D-Backs 17-5. Ryan Braun remains on the Milwaukee disabled list.
Arizona is without its top hitter A.J. Pollock who remains on the disabled list with a bad thumb. Pollock leads the team in batting average, hits home runs and RBIs. Arizona has a team batting average of .219 while opposing hitters are averaging .224 at the plate against Diamondbacks pitching. On Tuesday, Arizona will send Matt Koch to the mound. The right-hander this season is 2-2 with an ERA of 4.06, 20 Ks and 9 BBs.
Christian Yelich leads Milwaukee with a .290 batting average. Travis Shaw is the team leader in home runs with 10 and RBIs with 26. Milwaukee has a team batting average of .244 while opposing hitters are averaging .227 at the plate against Brewers pitching. On Tuesday, Milwaukee will send Jhoulys Chacin to the mound.
