Thirty-three year old righty Clay Buchholz (0-0 1.80 ERA) will make his second start as a member of the Diamondbacks. Last time out, Buchholz allowed two hits and one run during a 4-1 loss against the Mets.
The Oakland Athletics have won 26 of their first 51 games and have exceeded expectations through the first two months of the season. On Friday, SP Sean Manaea was tagged for eight hits and six runs while lasting just three plus innings. Mark Canha connected on his seventh home run in a losing effort for Oakland.
Twenty-five year old righty Daniel Mengden (4-4 3.30 ERA) will get the nod for the Athletics on Friday. Mengden has won consecutive starts and has allowed just one earned run over his last 13 innings.
