The reeling Arizona Diamondbacks losers of seven straight open a three game series on the road against the Oakland Athletics on Friday.
Arizona was swept by Milwaukee on Wednesday falling to the Brewers 9-2. The D-Backs have now lost 13 of their last 14 game overall and have fallen out of first place in the NL West trailing Colorado by a half game.
Oakland has lost two-straight after having its four-game winning streak snapped. The Seattle Mariners beat the A’s on Wednesday 1-0 with the only run coming on an error by the A’s. Daniel Gossett dropped to 0-2 with the loss, but gave up just one unearned run with four hits over seven innings for the A’s. He struck out five while walking one but could not get any run support from his offense. Oakland placed slugger Khris Davis on the 10-day disabled list with a groin problem.
With A.J. Pollock still on the disabled list, the leading hitter for Arizona is David Peralta with a .265 batting average and a team leading seven home runs. Daniel Descalso leads in RBIs with 22. Arizona has a team batting average of .213, while opposing hitters are averaging .224 at the plate against Diamondbacks pitching. On Friday, the Diamondbacks will send Patrick Corbin to the mound.
