The Arizona Diamondbacks continue their road series on Tuesday with the Los Angeles Angels.
On Sunday, the Diamondbacks lost for the second straight game falling to the New York Mets 5-3. Arizona allowed four runs in the ninth inning to the Mets to squander a two-run lead entering the final inning. Brad Boxberger blew his third save in 20 opportunities this season, after striking out the first two Mets he faced.
Los Angeles lost 6-5 on Sunday to the Oakland Athletics. The loss was the Angels second straight and sixth in its last seven games. In the loss, Albert Pujols homered for the Angels, but the bullpen failed to hold a lead as they have now blown 15 save opportunities on the season.
David Peralta leads the Diamondbacks with a .279 batting average, a team high 70 hits and team high 14 home runs. Daniel Descalso leads the team in RBIs with 39. Arizona has a team batting average of .227 while opposing hitters are averaging .234 at the plate against Diamondbacks pitching. On Sunday, Arizona will send Matt Koch to the mound. The right-hander this season is 5-3 with an ERA of 4.09, 38 Ks and 15 BBs.
Mike Trout leads the Angels with a .328 batting average and has a team high in hits with 83, home runs with 23 and RBIs with 46. Los Angeles has a team batting average of .247 while opposing hitters are averaging .244 at the plate against Angels pitching. Los Angeles has not yet announced the starting pitcher for Tuesday’s game.
