The Cubs and the Pirates are going to have a great game here in what is sure to be an amazing battle between these two teams for who is going to get second place and potentially land in 3rd to 4th place. The Cubs and the Pirates and even the Cardinals are the three teams battling for those positions and what is really shocking is the fact that it is only a half game of separation between the teams.
The Cubs are coming into the game with a decent pitching staff that is sitting at a 3.38 ERA on the year so far. The hitting for the Cubs has managed to get a total of 248 runs across the plate on the year and has managed to hit at a decent .256 on the year.
The Pirates are doing decent when it comes to the offensive side of the plate as well. The Pirates have scored a total of 245 runs on the year and the Pirates are hitting at a clip of .259. The pitching is a middle of the road job as the team has an ERA of 4.05.
The Cubs have yet to announce who they will be sending out to the mound in the game to face the Pirates. However, with the way the Cubs staff has been pitching on the season it is a good bet it is a player who can really control the Pirates offense and help to keep the team ERA of the Cubs down quite a bit.
The Pirates, on the other hand, are countering with Chad Kuhl. Kuhl does not go deep in the games with only 55.2 innings in 10 starts, but he has struck out 53 batters. At the same time the Pirates have seen Kuhl go 4-2 with a 4.20 ERA.
