The Philadelphia Phillies have lost seven of their last ten games and appear to be a team that is fading out of playoff contention. On Sunday night, Philadelphia allowed San Francisco to score three runs during the bottom of the eighth inning of a 9-6 road loss. J.T. Realmuto reached base four times and scored three runs for the Phillies, who are four games above .500 overall.

Veteran left-hander Jason Vargas (6-6 4.09 ERA) will make his third start as a member of the Phillies. Vargas, who was traded from New York, has posted a solid 1.26 WHIP through 105 plus innings of work.
