The top two teams in the NL Central Division will square off on Monday night, when the Chicago Cubs take on the Milwaukee Brewers from Miller Park. The Cubs have won eight of their last ten games and trail the Brewers by a half-game for the division lead. On Sunday, Chicago was unable to complete a weekend sweep during a 7-1 loss versus Pittsburgh.
Chicago skipper Joe Maddon will turn to southpaw Jose Quintana (6- 4.20 ERA) in the series opener. The Cubs have won each of Quintana’s last two starts and he has struck out 16 batters over his last 11 plus frames.
The Milwaukee Brewers have lost four of their last six games and acquired Brad Miller from the Tampa Bay Rays to boost their offense. On Sunday, Ryan Braun had two hits and drove in a run during a 4-3 loss at Philadelphia. Jesus Aguilar struck out in all four of his at-bats for Milwaukee, who is 13 games above .500 overall.
Thirty-three year old righty Junior Guerra (3-4 2.83 ERA) will head to the hill for the Brewers in this contest. Through 60 plus innings, Guerra has allowed just six long balls and owns a solid 1.14 WHIP.
