Last Updated: 05/28/2022 at 10:14 AM ET

In the first game of a Saturday MLB doubleheader, the Colorado Rockies will battle the Washington Nationals from the nation’s capital. The Rockies (20-24) have dropped 13 of their first 19 road games and are stuck in last place in the NL West Division. On Thursday, Colorado SP German Marquez (1-5) was tagged for five runs in six innings during a 7-3 road loss against Washington.

Twenty-nine year old righty Chad Kuhl (3-2 3.67 ERA) will make his ninth start of the season for the Rockies. In his last start, Kuhl allowed one run across four plus frames during a 2-1 road loss against Pittsburgh.

The Washington Nationals are ten games below .500 at home and own the second worst record in the National League. On Thursday, leadoff hitter Cesar Hernandez had two hits and scored a pair of runs to spark the Washington offense. SP Patrick Corbin (1-7) gave up three runs in six plus innings to earn his first victory of the season for the Nationals (16-30).

Rookie right-hander Joan Adon (1-8 6.97 ERA) has been unable to find success at the major league level. Control has been an issue for Adon, who has walked 27 batters in 41 plus innings.

Colorado 3B Kris Bryant has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a lower back strain. Through 44 games, Colorado ranks 6th in OPS and 10th in runs scored. For the season, Washington ranks 21st in OPS and 20th in runs scored. Take the Rockies to win on the road. Final Score Prediction, Colorado Rockies win 5-3.
