The San Francisco Giants host the Colorado Rockies for the second game of a three-game series Sept. 28. San Francisco leads the season series 11-5.

The Rockies are 65-88 overall and 24-48 on the road. Against the run line, they are 82-71 and 38-34 on the road. The Giants are 75-78 overall and 39-36 at home. Against the run line, they are 72-81 overall and 31-44 at home.

San Francisco had yet to name a starter for Wednesday prior to Tuesday’s game.

Jose Urena is scheduled to make his 16th start for the Rockies. He is 3-7 with a 5.34 ERA over 86 innings. He has allowed 100 hits, walked 39 and struck out 53. Urena has surrendered just four earned runs in 17 innings over his last three starts. He took the loss against the Giants on Sept. 22, despite allowing only two earned runs in 5 2/3 innings. The Rockies were shutout 3-0 in that game.

Mike Yastrzemski homered and scored twice for the Giants in Urena’s last start. Joc Pederson was 3-4 with an RBI. Pederson is 9-for-15 with a double, triple and home run against Urena for his career. Brandon Crawford has five hits including a double and a homer in 12 career at bats against Urena.

Yonathan Daza has been the Rockies hottest hitter in September with a .328 average and .871 OPS. He has scored 14 runs and driven in 10 in 64 at bats. Alan Trejo has hit .290 for the month with an OPS of .805. He has scored seven times, driven in eight runs and homered twice.

San Francisco is 5-2 against Colorado this season, and the Rockies have lost two-thirds of road games. A lot depends on who the Giants decide to start, but given those two indicators we lean toward San Francisco taking this one. Urena is hittable, and the Giants have the hitters to do damage against him. Final Score Prediction: San Francisco Giants win 4-3.
