Last Updated: 06/22/2022 at 10:49 PM ET

The Thursday MLB schedule will get underway with a matinee between the Colorado Rockies and the Miami Marlins from loanDepot Park. The Rockies (30-39) have dropped 20 of their first 31 road games and are stuck in last place in the NL West Division. Last night, Colorado C Elias Diaz’s three-run blast in the ninth inning was not enough during a 7-4 road loss against Miami.

Twenty-nine year old southpaw Kyle Freeland (3-5 4.46 ERA) will make his 14th start of the season for the Rockies. Last time out, Freeland allowed four runs across seven frames during a 10-4 home victory versus San Diego. The Miami Marlins are three games above .500 at home and are 12 games off the pace in the NL East Division race. On Wednesday, 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr. homered and drove in three runs to power the Miami offense. SP Pablo Lopez (5-3) allowed one unearned run in seven innings to earn the win for the Marlins (31-36).

The Marlins will turn to twenty-four year old righty Braxton Garrett (1-2 4.85 ERA) in the series finale. Through 13 innings of work, Garrett has struck out ten batters and owns a subpar 1.54 WHIP.

Colorado 3B Kris Bryant (back) is on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque and is expected to rejoin the club this weekend. Through 69 games, Colorado ranks 10th in OPS and 10th in runs scored. For the season, Miami ranks 13th in OPS and 16th in runs scored. Take the over. Final Score Prediction, Miami Marlins win 6-5.
