Colorado Rockies at Chicago White Sox 9/13/22 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Chicago White Sox host the Colorado Rockies on Sept. 13 for the start of a two-game interleague series. The season series is tied 1-1 after a two-game series at Colorado in July.

Chicago is 72-69 overall and 34-36 at home. The White Sox have won four straight series: 3-1 at Oakland and 2-1 at Seattle after topping both Minnesota and Kansas City 2-1 at home. Colorado is 61-80 overall and 21-46 on the road. The Rockies are coming off back-to-back 2-1 series wins over Arizona and Milwaukee.

Michael Kopech is scheduled to start for Chicago. Kopech is 4-9 with a 3.78 ERA over 114.3 innings. Over his last 10 games, Kopech has averaged 4.1 innings pitched and 2.7 earned runs. Kopech shut out the Rockies for 5.1 innings on July 26 to earn the win. He gave up six hits and three walks and struck out four.

Chad Kuhl, who is 6-8 with a 5.38 ERA and averages five innings per start, is set to take the mound for Colorado. Kuhl has averaged 4.2 innings, four strikeouts, 5.8 hits, 2.1 walks and four earned runs per start over his last 10 games. He gave up six hits two walks and five earned runs in 4.1 innings during his last start against Milwaukee.

Eloy Jimenez has been one of Chicago’s best hitters since returning from injury. He has hit .317 with a .891 OPS in 227 at bats. Jimenez has 12 home runs, 29 runs scored and 42 runs batted in. Andrew Vaughn leads the White Sox with 15 HRs.

C.J. Cron leads Colorado with 28 home runs with a .266 batting average, .325 on-base average and .490 slugging percentage. Cron has scored 74 times and driven in 96. Brendan Rodgers is having a fine season, batting .267 with a .326 OBP and .405 SLG with 68 runs scored, 60 RBI and 11 home runs.

The White Sox have moved to with 2.5 games of American League Central Division leaders Cleveland and two games ahead of Minnesota. Kopech has had an up-and-down season but can be dominant when he’s on. As usual, Colorado’s offense is quite different away from the home altitude. The Rockies have the fewest runs scored in road games this season. Look for Kopech to shut down Colorado again. Final Score Prediction: Chicago White Sox win 6-2.
