The Colorado Rockies will meet up with the Arizona Diamondbacks in the third and final game of the a series at Chase Field. The Diamondbacks won game one, and improved to 47-58 on the year which leaves them out of the playoff picture in the stacked NL West. The Rockies have lost four of five after avoiding the sweep against the Padres in the finale game of a four game series, but at 47-62 are also going to miss the playoffs.

The Rockies offense has had some real struggles this season and is struggling to generate any runs at all, especially on the road. They’re averaging 3.16 runs per game this season away from home, and are a dismal 16-33 away from home this season. First baseman CJ Cron has emerged as a future start in this league, he’s leading the team with 22 home runs and 72 RBIs.

The right-handed Jose Urena will get the start for the Rockies, he’s had some struggles this season going 1-4 with a 4.66 ERA and bounced between back and forth between the minors. Ureena did have a solid last outing, although a short one allowing two runs on three hits in four innings. Ureana has bounced between a reliever and starter across his career, points a 4.77 career ERA.

The Diamondbacks offense has also had some struggles this season avregaing 4.24 runs per game which ranks 19th in the league in scoring offense. First baseman Christina Walker has led the way, despite hitting just .199 on the season he leads the team with 58 RBIs and 25 home runs, including two homers and 6 RBIs in the last seven days.

The right-handed Zach Davies will get the ball for the Diamondbacks in hopes of bouncing back from his last start. Davies allowed four runs on three hits and two home runs in just two innings of work, he walked two and struck out one in a 6-5 loss to the Guardians. Davies has a career 4.16 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP, about on par with his numbers this season.

Both of these teams are out of the playoff picture and have had a lot of struggles this season, but they’re relatively evenly matched with the exception of the Rockies struggles away from home. The Rockies offense is one of the worst in baseball away from home, and the Diamondbacks pitching has been much better this season and has the advantage in this game. The Rockies have lost seven of their last ten games and those struggles continue with the Diamondbacks taking the win and securing the series win. Final score prediction, Diamondbacks win 5-4.
