AL Central Division rivals will clash on Wednesday afternoon, when the Cleveland Indians and the Minnesota Twins wrap up their series from Target Field. The Indians (58-60) are four games below .500 on the road and not within striking distance of first place Chicago. Last night, OF Daniel Johnson hit a two-run blast to power Cleveland to a 3-1 road victory.
Twenty-six year old righty Zach Plesac (7-4 4.64 ERA) will draw the starting assignment for the Indians. Last time out, Plesac allowed two runs in seven plus innings during a 7-4 road victory against Detroit.
The Minnesota Twins are four games below .500 at home and have been one of the most disappointing teams in baseball. During Tuesday’s loss, Minnesota went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. SP Bailey Ober (1-2) gave up three runs (2 ER) in six innings and took the loss for the Twins, who fell to 53-67 on the year.
Minnesota manager Rocco Baldelli has yet to announce a starting pitcher for Wednesday. The Twins currently rank 26th in the majors with a 4.87 team ERA and have logged just 29 quality starts.
