AL Central Division foes will clash on Wednesday night, when the Cleveland Indians and the Kansas City Royals continue their series from Kauffman Stadium. The Indians (65-64) have won seven of their last 11 games and are 10 games back of first place Chicago. Last night, Cleveland SP Zach Plesac (9-4) allowed just two hits over seven shutout frames during a 7-2 road victory.
Rookie left-hander Sam Hentges (1-4 7.31 ERA) will make his 13th career major league start for the Indians. Control has been an issue for Hentges, who has walked 30 batters and given up 80 hits through 56 plus frames.
The Kansas City Royals have split their first 64 home games and trail Cleveland by seven games for second place. During Tuesday’s loss, Kansas City managed just five hits and struck out seven times. SP Jakob Junis (2-4) gave up three runs in four plus innings and took the loss for the Royals (59-72).
The Royals will counter with thirty-three year old southpaw Mike Minor (8-11 5.30 ERA) on Wednesday. In his last start, Minor gave up three runs in six innings during a 6-5 road loss against Houston.
