The Wednesday MLB schedule will get underway with a matinee between the Cincinnati Reds and the Pittsburgh Pirates from PNC Park. The Reds (60-95) have dropped consecutive games and are 19 games below .500 on the road. Last night, Cincinnati batters left eight men on base and struck out ten times during a 4-1 road loss against Pittsburgh.

Thirty-three year old righty Luis Cessa (4-4 4.78 ERA) will make his ninth start of the season. Last time out, Cessa gave up three runs (2 ER) in four plus innings during a 5-3 home loss versus Philadelphia.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have dropped 46 of their 77 home games and are trying to climb out of the NL Central Division cellar. On Tuesday, Pittsburgh DH Miguel Andujar broke a seventh inning tie at one with a bases clearing double. SP Mitch Keller allowed one run in five innings and did not factor in the decision for the Pirates, who improved to 58-97 on the year.

The Pirates will give the nod to twenty-four year old righty Bryse Wilson (3-9 5.95 ERA) in the series finale. Pittsburgh has lost four of Wilson’s last five starts and he has allowed 16 runs over his last 25 frames.

Pittsburgh SP J.T. Brubaker (lat) threw a bullpen session on Monday and could make his final start later this week. Through 155 games, Cincinnati ranks 26th in OPS and 22nd in runs scored.
