Cincinnati Reds at Pittsburgh Pirates 9/26/22 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Monday MLB schedule will get underway with a matchup between the Cincinnati Reds and the Pittsburgh Pirates from PNC Park. The Reds (60-93) lost 22 of their first 25 games to start the season and have their sights set on the future. On Sunday, Spencer Steer’s eighth inning solo shot lifted Cincinnati to a 2-1 home victory versus Milwaukee. 

Thirty-four year old righty Chase Anderson (2-3 5.21 ERA) will make his seventh start of the season. The Reds have won Anderson’s previous two starts and he has allowed two runs over his last ten innings.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have lost nine of their previous ten games and are stuck in the NL Central Division basement. On Sunday, Pittsburgh was limited to six hits and committed four errors during an ugly 8-3 home loss versus Chicago. OF Bryan Reynolds homered and scored twice in a losing effort for the Pirates (56-97).

Rookie right-hander Roansy Contreras (5-5 3.68 ERA) could be a nice piece for the Pirates moving forward. Through 88 innings, Contreras has struck out 84 batters and owns a respectable 1.30 WHIP.
