Historic Wrigley Field will play host to a Wednesday night MLB clash between the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago Cubs. The Reds (52-49) are three games above .500 on the road and trail NL Central Division leading Milwaukee by seven full games. Last night, 1B Joey Votto hit two of Cincinnati’s four home runs during a 7-4 road triumph against Cincinnati.

Twenty-six year old righty Tyler Mahle (7-3 3.92 ERA) will take the mound for the Reds in this matchup. Last time out, Mahle allowed two runs in five innings during a 6-5 home victory versus St. Louis.

The Chicago Cubs have won 31 of their first 50 home games and have fallen 9.5 games out of first place. On Tuesday, Chicago went 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base. 1B Anthony Rizzo hit a two-run blast in a losing effort for the Cubs, who dropped to 50-52 on the season.

Chicago manager David Ross will give the nod to right-hander Zach Davies (6-6 4.30 ERA) on Wednesday. Control has been an issue for Davies, who has walked 54 batters across 102 plus innings.

Cincinnati OF Nick Castellanos (wrist) was scheduled to resume baseball activities on Tuesday and is looking to return early next month. Through 101 games, Cincinnati ranks 10th in OPS and 9th in runs scored. For the season, Chicago ranks 18th in OPS and 18th in runs scored. Take the Reds to win on the road. Final Score Prediction, Cincinnati Reds win 5-3.
