Cincinnati Reds at Chicago Cubs 10/2/22 - MLB Picks & Predictions

On Sunday, the Cincinnati Reds conclude a three-game series on the road at Wrigley Field against the Chicago Cubs. Cincinnati is 60-97 following its 6-1 loss to Chicago in the opening game of the series on Friday. Cincinnati has lost four straight and seven of the last eight. The Reds are fourth in the National League Central and have been eliminated from postseason contention.

Shortstop Kyle Farmer is batting .253 with 14 home runs, 76 RBIs, 129 hits and an on-base percentage of .313 to lead Cincinnati in each category. Jonathan India and Aristides Aquino are second in home runs with 10 each. On Sunday, the Cincinnati Reds will send Chase Anderson to the mound. The right-hander is 2-3 with a 4.70 ERA, 23 Ks and 11 BBs.

Chicago improved to 71-86 following its five-run victory over Cincinnati on Friday.  Adrian Sampson pitched seven strong innings, while Nico Hoerner had three RBIs to help lead the Cubs to the win. The Cubs have won five straight and nine of the last 10. Chicago is third in the National League Central but has been eliminated from postseason contention.

Shortstop Nico Hoerner is batting .284 to lead Chicago, while third baseman Patrick Wisdom is the leader in home runs with 25. Left fielder Ian Happ is the leader in RBIs with 71, hits with 152 and on-base percentage at .342. On Sunday, the Chicago Cubs will send Marcus Stroman to the mound. The right-hander is 5-7 with a 3.66 ERA, 112 Ks and 34 BBs.

Chicago will pick up a victory at home, but the play here is UNDER. The UNDER has cashed in 16 of Chicago's last 22 and and 10 of Cincinnati's last 12. Cincinnati starting pitcher Chase Anderson allowed two earned runs or less in four of the last five starts and has given up a total of five earned runs across the last 21 ⅓ innings. Chicago starter Marcus Stroman has allowed just five earned runs across the last 20 innings with the UNDER cashing in each of the three starts. Final Score Prediction, Chicago Cubs win but our best play is UNDER 3-2.
