The Sunday MLB schedule will get underway with a matinee between the Chicago Cubs and the Philadelphia Phillies from Citizens Bank Park. The Cubs (37-57) have won three straight games and are trying to stay out of the NL Central Division cellar. On Saturday, Chicago SS Nico Hoerner homered and scored twice during a 6-2 road victory against Philadelphia in ten innings.

Thirty-three year old southpaw Drew Smyly (2-5 4.22 ERA) will take the ball for the Cubs in this matchup. Chicago has lost Smyly’s last three starts and he has given up five runs over his last nine plus frames.

Th Philadelphia Phillies have been plagued by poor defense and are nine games off the pace in the NL East Division race. During yesterday's loss, Philadelphia 3B Alec Bohm's fielding error allowed two runs to score as part of a disastrous tenth inning. SP Zach Wheeler allowed one run across seven solid frames and did not factor in the decision for the Phillies, who fell to 49-45 on the season.

Twenty-five year old lefty Bailey Falter (0-2 4.82 ERA) will make his sixth start of the season for the Phillies. Through 28 innings of work, Falter has struck out 24 batters and owns a subpar 1.46 WHIP.

Philadelphia SS Jean Segura (finger) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment next week. Through 94 games, Chicago ranks 13th in OPS and 17th in runs scored. For the season, Philadelphia ranks 9th in OPS and 9th in runs scored. Take the over. Final Score Prediction, Philadelphia Phillies win 7-5.
