In Tuesday night MLB action, the Chicago Cubs will travel to Target Field to take on the Minnesota Twins. The Cubs (57-75) have dropped 43 of their first 67 road games and have fallen out of contention in the NL Central Division. On Sunday, Chicago managed just five hits and struck out 15 times during an ugly 13-1 road loss against the White Sox.
Twenty-eight year old righty Zach Davies (6-10 5.00 ERA) will head to the hill for the Cubs in this contest. Davies has walked 64 batters and surrendered 21 home runs through 131 plus innings so far this season.
The Minnesota Twins are two games below .500 at home and sitting in last place in the AL Central Division standings. On Monday, DH Josh Donaldson hit a two-run blast to lift Minnesota to a 3-2 road victory against Detroit. SP Bailey Ober (2-2) allowed two runs in six innings to pick up the win for the Twins, who improved to 58-73 on the season.
Twenty-nine year old righty John Gant (4-8 4.00 ERA) will get the nod for the Twins in the series opener. Control has been a major issue for Gant, who has walked 62 batters in just 92 plus innings.
