Rookie right-hander Hayden Wesneski (3-1 2.33 ERA) will make his fourth career major league start. Last time out, Wesneski allowed one run in five innings during a 4-2 home victory versus Philadelphia.
The Cincinnati Reds are in the midst of a six-game losing streak and are tied with Pittsburgh for last place in the NL Central Division. During yesterday’s road loss, Cincinnati left eight men on base and struck out ten times. SP Chase Anderson (2-4) was rocked for five runs and recorded just one out for the Reds, who fell to 60-99 on the year.
The Reds will give the nod to flame-throwing rookie Hunter Greene (4-13 4.66 ERA) in the series opener. Through 119 plus innings, Greene has struck out 156 batters and owns a solid 1.25 WHIP.
