The Arizona Diamondbacks are four games above .500 overall and have proven to be one of the scrappiest teams in the majors. On Tuesday, Ildemaro Vargas singled Carson Kelly home with the winning run. SP Mike Leake allowed one run in six innings and did not factor in the decision for the Diamondbacks.
The Diamondbacks will turn to thirty year old right-hander Merrill Kelly (12-14 4.31 ERA) on Wednesday. Kelly has won consecutive starts and has not allowed a run in his last 14 innings of work.
