Brewers at Reds 7/4/19 - MLB Picks & Predictions

NL Central Division rivals will square off on Thursday afternoon, when the Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds wrap up a three-game series from the Great American Ball Park. Last night, Milwaukee managed just four singles during a 3-0 loss. SP Jhoulys Chacin struck out eight and allowed two runs over six frames for the Brewers, who are five games above .500 overall.

Twenty-six year old righty Brandon Woodruff (10-2 3.79 ERA) will head to the hill for the Brewers in this contest. Woodruff has won consecutive starts and has allowed four runs over his last 14 plus frames. The Cincinnati Reds dropped Monday’s series opener and have rebounded to score consecutive victories against Milwaukee. On Wednesday, Cincinnati SP Sonny Gray struck out 12 batters over eight scoreless innings to even his record at 5-5 on the season. Yasiel Puig crushed his 19th home run for the Reds, who trail the Brewers by 4.5 games for the top spot in the division standings.

The Reds will counter with talented right-hander Luis Castillo (7-3 2.47 ERA) on Thursday. Control has been an issue for Castillo, who has walked a National League high 52 batters in 98 plus innings this season.

Milwaukee SP Gio Gonzalez (arm) is slated for an “aggressive bullpen session” on Friday. Through 87 games, Milwaukee ranks 9th in OPS and 14th in runs scored. For the season, Cincinnati ranks 23rd in OPS and 25th in runs scored. Take the Brewers to earn a split of this four-game series with a win on Thursday. Final Score Prediction, Milwaukee Brewers win 5-3.
