Last Updated: 08/20/2019 at 8:10 AM ET

NL Central Division rivals will clash on Monday night, when the Milwaukee Brewers invade the Great American Ball Park to face the Cincinnati Reds. On Sunday, Eric Thames led off the eighth inning with a home run to lift Milwaukee to a 2-1 home victory versus Pittsburgh. SP Zach Davies allowed one run over five plus innings for the Brewers, who are tied with the Cubs for first place.

Twenty-six year old righty Adrian Houser (2-2 2.94 ERA) will take the mound for the Brewers in this matchup. Houser has been used as an opener before and has fanned 40 batters in 33 plus innings of work. The Cincinnati Reds are three games above .500 at home and are hanging around in the NL Central Division race. On Sunday, Eugenio Suarez homered and drove in three runs to power Cincinnati to an 8-6 home victory versus Chicago. Phillip Ervin had two hits and drove in a pair of runs for the Reds, who are just 5.5 games out of first place.

The Reds will counter with twenty-four year old righty Tyler Mahle (2-8 4.35 ERA) in the series opener. Mahle is winless in his last four starts and has allowed 11 runs over his last 21 plus frames.

Milwaukee SP Gio Gonzalez (arm) will not return before the All-Star Break. Through 84 games, Milwaukee ranks 10th in OPS and 15th in runs scored. For the season, Cincinnati ranks 23rd in OPS and 27th in runs scored. Look for the Reds to win a game that will go over the total. Final Score Prediction, Cincinnati Reds win high scoring over game 7-6.
