Brewers at Pirates 6/18/18 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Milwaukee Brewers will look to get back on track when they visit PNC Park to face the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday night. The Brewers dropped two out of three versus Philadelphia over the weekend. On Sunday, Milwaukee’s four-run ninth inning rally fell short during a 10-9 loss. The Brewers are 13 games above .500 overall and in a virtual tie with Chicago for first place in the NL Central.

Thirty year old right-hander Jhoulys Chacin (6-1 3.32 ERA) will make his 16th start of the season for the Brewers. Chacin has won three straight starts and has allowed four runs over his last 18 frames. The Pittsburgh Pirates started off the season as one of the hottest teams in the majors and are trying to stay in contention in the NL Central Division. On Sunday, Pittsburgh brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth inning before coming up short during an 8-6 loss versus Cincinnati. The Pirates had their three-game winning streak snapped and are seven games out of first place.

Pittsburgh skipper Clint Hurdle will turn to right-hander Trevor Williams (5-4 4.38 ERA) in the series opener. Williams is winless in his last five starts and has given up 20 runs over his last 21 innings of work.

Milwaukee SP Zach Davies (shoulder) threw a successful bullpen session on Wednesday and hopes to return early next month. Through 71 games, Milwaukee ranks 13th in batting average and 15th in runs scored. For the season, Pittsburgh ranks 7th in batting average and 8th in runs scored. Take Milwaukee to win and keep pace with the Cubs. Final Score Prediction, Milwaukee Brewers win 6-3.
