Braves at Phillies 9/30/18 - MLB Picks & Predictions

Citizens Bank Park will play host to a Sunday afternoon matchup between the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies. Last night, Atlanta managed just two hits during a 3-0 defeat. SP Anibal Sanchez struck out seven batters over six scoreless frames in a losing effort for the Braves, who have clinched the NL East Division title.

Hard-throwing righty Kevin Gausman (10-10 3.93 ERA) will head to the hill for the Braves in this contest. Last time out, Gausman allowed five hits and three runs in six plus frames during an 8-3 victory versus Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Phillies hung with the Braves for much of the year atop the division standings, but folded over the final month of the season. During Saturday’s victory, All-Star SP Aaron Nola struck out eight batters over seven innings and improved his record to 17-6. Cesar Hernandez drove in a pair of runs for the Phillies, who snapped a nine-game losing streak with the win.

Twenty-three year old rookie lefty Ranger Suarez (1-1 6.00 ERA) will make his third career major league start for the Phillies. Suarez has been tagged for 20 hits and three home runs in his first 12 innings of work.

Atlanta SS Dansby Swanson (hand) is cautiously optimistic that he will be able to play in the NLDS. Through 161 games, Atlanta ranks 4th in batting average and 9th in runs scored. For the season, Philadelphia ranks 28th in batting average and 22nd in runs scored. Take the Phillies to win at home in the regular season finale. Final Score Prediction, Philadelphia Phillies win 5-3.
