The Tuesday MLB schedule will get underway with the first game of a day-night doubleheader between the Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals. On Sunday, All-Star OF Nick Markakis homered in the 10th inning to propel Atlanta to a 5-4 victory at New York. Ender Inciarte had three hits and went deep in support of winning pitcher Julio Teheran.

Twenty-four year old lefty Max Fried (1-4 3.38 ERA) will make his fifth start of the season for the Braves. Through 26 plus innings, Fried has fanned 34 batters and owns a 1.39 WHIP. The Washington Nationals had Monday off, but made news by signing veteran relief pitcher Greg Holland. On Sunday, Tanner Roark allowed one run over seven frames to lead the Nationals to a 2-1 victory versus Cincinnati. Washington C Matt Wieters connected on a solo home run and Bryce Harper added his 68th RBI of the season.

The Nationals will counter with rookie right-hander Jefry Rodriguez (0-1 6.86 ERA) on Tuesday. Control has been an issue for Rodriguez who has walked 12 batters through 19 plus innings of work.

Washington SP Stephen Strasburg (neck) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Thursday. Through 108 games, Atlanta ranks 3rd in batting average and 10th in runs scored. For the season, Washington ranks 14th in batting average and 13th in runs scored. Look for Atlanta to jump out early and take the opening game of this series.
