Braves at Mets 9/27/18 - MLB Picks & Predictions

AL East Division rivals will clash on Thursday evening, when the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets wrap up a three-game series from Citi Field. Last night, Atlanta had their six-game winning streak snapped during a 3-0 defeat. SP Sean Newcomb struck out eight batters over five scoreless innings for the Braves, who have clinched the NL East Division title.

Twenty-seven year old righty Julio Teheran (9-8 4.03 ERA) will get the nod for the Braves in this matchup. Teheran is winless in his last five starts and has allowed 12 runs over his last 29 innings of work. The New York Mets have given their fans very little to cheer about this season, but on Wednesday Citi Field was electric. SP Jacob deGrom likely wrapped up the National League Cy Young Award with another outstanding pitching performance. deGrom (9-8) struck out ten batters and allowed just two hits over eight scoreless innings to lower his major league leading ERA to 1.70.

Thirty-five year old southpaw Jason Vargas (6-9 6.25 ERA) has been better after a dismal start to the season. New York has won Vargas’ last two starts and he has given up four runs over his last 11 plus innings.

Atlanta SS Dansby Swanson will undergo an MRI on his sore left hand and wrist. Through 158 games, Atlanta ranks 3rd in batting average and 8th in runs scored. For the season, New York ranks 28th in batting average and 21st in runs scored. Take the Mets to win the rubber game at home. Final Score Prediction, New York Mets 4-3.
