In Tuesday night MLB action, the Atlanta Braves and Toronto Blue Jays will open up an interleague series from Rogers Centre. The Braves have won five of their last six games and are 13 games above .500 overall. On Sunday, Atlanta SP Julio Teheran came off the disabled list to throw six no-hit innings to lead his team to a 4-1 victory versus San Diego.
Twenty year old rookie right-hander Michael Soroka (2-1 2.57 ERA) will make his fifth career major league start for the Braves. In his last start, Soroka allowed just one hit over six plus scoreless frames during a 2-0 victory versus New York.
The Toronto Blue Jays are riding high after completing a three-game weekend sweep over the Washington Nationals. The Blue Jays outscored the Nationals by a 16-11 margin and are five games below .500 overall. On Sunday, Teoscar Hernandez and Yangervis Solarte hit back-to-back home runs in the eighth inning to power Toronto to an 8-6 victory.
The Blue Jays will turn to thirty-one year old southpaw Jaime Garcia (2-5 5.71 ERA) in the series opener. Control has been an issue for Garcia, who has walked 28 batters and served up 10 long balls in 58 plus innings.
