Boston Red Sox at Chicago White Sox 5/26/22 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Boston Red Sox will continue their three-game series at Guaranteed Rate Field to take on the Chicago White Sox. Both teams have had disappointing starts to their season but the Red Sox have won five straight after sweeping the Mariners and opening this series with a 16-3 win to improve to 20-22. The White Sox won a series on the road over the Yankees, but have struggled this season at 21-21 and 5 games back in the AL Central.

Boston has been one of the better offenses in the MLB this season hitting .251 as a team and scoring 4.52 runs per game, both of which rank in the top 10 of the MLB. The bats have really come alive in the last five games, going over double digits twice and average seven per game in their other three games.

Michael Wacha will get the start for the Red Sox and hope to continue his strong start to the year, he’s 3-0 with a 1.76 ERA in his six starts this season. After a couple of down years, Wacha proved himself a potentially valuable piece to this Red Sox rotation. IF there has been any knock on his game this season, it’s been the homeruns as he’s allowed three in his last four starts.

The White Sox are expected to compete for the AL Pennet, but they’ve started slow this season, especially at the plate. The White Sox are hitting just .235 and scoring 3.60 runs per gam,e which ranks 28th in the MLB in scoring offense. Luis Robert has led the way hitting .295 with six homeruns and 17 RBIs, all three of which lead the team.

Dallas Keuchel will get the start for the White Sox, after a dominant season in 2020 he has struggled the last two seasons. Through his seven starts, Keuchel has survived just 30 innings posting a 6.60 ERA, and has walked more than he has struck out. The 34-year-old veteran will need to turn it around this season, or he’ll risk being sent down to AAA.

Boston is as hot as anyone in the league riding a five-game win streak and with the bats as hot as they are, it probably isn’t the best idea to fade this team right now. Against a struggling pitcher, the Boston bats stay hot and are able to get plenty of opportunities to get on base and score runs. Michael Wacha puts together another solid start, and the Red Sox bullpen holds and secures the way. Final score prediction, Red Sox win 6-4.
