In Friday night MLB action, the Toronto Blue Jays will travel to the Bronx to open up a weekend series against the New York Yankees. Last night, Toronto was unable to get over the hump during a 4-3 loss at Boston. The Blue Jays were swept by the Red Sox in the three-game set and fell to 15 games below .500 overall.

Thirty-five year old righty Marco Estrada (7-11 5.32 ERA) will take the mound for the Blue Jays in this matchup. Through 130 plus innings, Estrada has surrendered 26 long balls and owns a 1.40 WHIP. The New York Yankees will be glad to return home after winning just four times on their most recent nine-game road trip. On Wednesday, Greg Bird’s run-scoring double in the eighth inning was all the offense the Yankees could manage during a 3-1 loss at Minnesota. New York is 34 games above .500 overall and leads Oakland by just one game for home field advantage in the AL Wild Card game.

New York skipper Aaron Boone will turn to right-hander Masahiro Tanaka (11-5 3.61 ERA) in the series opener. Tanaka has won consecutive starts and has allowed just one run over his last 15 innings of work.

New York RP Aroldis Chapman (knee) is hoping to return sometime next week. Through 146 games, Toronto ranks 19th in batting average and 16th in runs scored. For the season, New York ranks 15th in batting average and 2nd in runs scored. Look for New York to win a low scoring game behind a solid effort from Tanaka. Final Score Prediction, New York Yankees win in under game 4-2.
