The Sunday MLB schedule will get underway with a matinee between the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees from the Bronx. The Orioles (42-92) are 25 games below .500 on the road and own the worst overall record in the majors. On Saturday, Ryan Mountcastle scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning of a 4-3 road victory against New York.
Twenty-six year old lefty Keegan Akin (2-8 6.90 ERA) will make his 14th start of the season for the Orioles. Last time out, Akin allowed one run in five innings during a 4-2 road victory against Toronto.
The New York Yankees have won 40 of their 66 home games and hold a one-game lead over Boston for the first AL Wild Card spot. During Saturday’s home loss, New York went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. Joey Gallo tied the game at three with a two-run blast for the Yankees, who fell to 78-57 on the year.
The Yankees will turn to thirty-five year old righty Corey Kluber (4-3 3.61 ERA) in the series finale. In his last start, Kluber gave up five runs in four innings during an 8-7 road loss against Los Angeles.
