Baltimore Orioles at Houston Astros 8/28/22 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Baltimore Orioles conclude a three-game series on the road Sunday versus the Houston Astros. Baltimore is 66-59 following its 2-0 victory over Houston in the opening game of the series on Friday. Kyle Bradish combined with two relievers to throw a four-hitter for the Orioles. Baltimore is fourth in the American League East, 11 ½ games behind the first-place New York Yankees and fourth in the AL wildcard chase.

Center fielder Cedric Mullins is batting .267 to lead Baltimore and has a team-high 127 hits. Right fielder Anthony Santander is the leader in home runs with 22 RBIs with 71 and on-base percentage .335. On Sunday, the Baltimore Orioles will send Austin Voth to the mound. The right-hander is 4-1 with a 4.73 ERA, 65 Ks and 22 BBs.

Houston dropped to 81-46 following its two-run shutout loss to Baltimore on Friday. Houston starter Lance McCullers Jr allowed just four hits in five shutout innings, but reliever Cristian Javier gave up a two-run homer in the sixth inning. The Astros are first in the American League West, 11 ½ games ahead of the second place Seattle Mariners.

Designated hitter Yordan Alvarez is batting .294 with 31 home runs and an on-base percentage of .399 to lead Houston in each category. Right fielder Kyle Tucker is the leader in RBIs with 82 and third baseman Alex Bregman is the leader in hits with 118. On Sunday, the Houston Astros will send Justin Verlander to the mound. The right-hander is 16-3 with a 1.87 ERA, 148 Ks and 25 BBs.

Houston will pick up a victory on Sunday, but the play here is UNDER. The UNDER has cashed in 20 of the last 27 games that Baltimore has played in Houston. Baltimore starting pitcher Austin Voth has allowed two earned runs or less in four out of the last five starts. Houston starting pitcher Justin Verlander has allowed three earned runs or less in each of the last five starts and the UNDER has cashed in three of the right-hander’s last four starts. Final Score Prediction, Houston Astros win but our best play is UNDER 4-2.
