Baltimore Orioles at Boston Red Sox 7/25/20 - MLB Picks & Predictions

AL East Division foes will square off on Saturday afternoon, when the Baltimore Orioles and Boston Red Sox continue their series from Fenway Park. Last night, Baltimore SP Tommy Millone (0-1) gave up four runs in just three innings during a 13-2 road loss. Rio Ruiz connected on a solo shot in a losing effort for the Orioles.

Thirty-two year old righty Alex Cobb (0-2 10.95 ERA) will head to the hill for the Orioles in this contest. Cobb made just three starts in 2019 and owns a 53-52 career record with a 3.85 ERA in 146 major league starts.

The Boston Red Sox are going to have to score plenty of runs to be successful and showed that they are plenty capable of doing just that. DH J.D. Martinez collected three hits, drove in three runs, and scored twice to spark the Boston offense. Jackie Bradley Jr. contributed three hits and crossed home plate three times on the night for the Red Sox, who had 17 hits as a team.

The Red Sox will turn to twenty-nine year old southpaw Martin Perez (10-7 5.12 ERA) on Saturday. Last season, Perez surrendered 23 home runs and posted a subpar 1.52 WHIP in 165 plus innings of work.

Boston SP Chris Sale underwent Tommy John surgery in March and will miss the entire season. Last season, Baltimore ranked 25th in OPS and 22nd in runs scored. Boston features an offense that ranked 5th in OPS and 4th in runs scored in 2019. The Red Sox pitching will be their downfall in 2020 and on Saturday. Final Score Prediction, Baltimore Orioles 7-5.
