Atlanta Braves vs Miami Marlins 10/8/20 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Atlanta Braves and Miami Marlins are set to meet in game 3 of the NLDS as they will faceoff at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas. The Atlanta Braves come into this matchup with a 2-0 record in this series, and they will be looking to get a clean sweep after winning game 2 against the Marlins, 2-0. SP Ian Anderson received the starting nod for the Atlanta Braves, and he had success as he went 5.2 scoreless innings while striking out 8 batters. Travis d’Arnaud had a big game from the plate for the Braves as he went 1 for 3 with a solo-HR which gives him 2 HRs on the postseason.

The Atlanta Braves are set to start Kyle Wright (2-4, 5.21 ERA) who had success in his latest start as he gave up 2 earned runs in 6.2 innings against the Boston Red Sox. Kyle Wright struggled in his 2 starts against the Miami Marlins during the regular season as he went 0-2 with a 10.29 ERA.

The Miami Marlins are looking to turn this series around against the Atlanta Braves as they dropped game 2 against their NL East divisional rivals, 2-0. SP Pablo Lopez received the starting nod for the Miami Marlins, and he had a solid outing as he gave up 2 earned runs while striking out 7 batters through 5 innings. The Marlins struggled to get anything going from the plate as they only recorded 3 hits, and they received those hits from the 2-3-4 spots as Berti, Aguilar, and Anderson could be accredited those.

The Miami Marlins are set to start Sixto Sanchez (3-2, 3.46 ERA) who had success in his latest start as he went 5 scoreless innings while striking out 6 batters against the Chicago Cubs in the NL Wild Card. Sixto Sanchez recorded 2 starts against the Atlanta Braves during the regular season, and he went 1-0 with a 4.00 ERA.

This is a battle of the rookie pitchers for these respective teams, but this comes down to the better bats which is why I am backing the Atlanta Braves. The Braves have received production from some unlikely sources as of recent as Dansby Swanson and Travis d’Arnaud lead the team with 2 HRs, but they aren’t the only Atlanta hitters who have impacted the postseason as Acuna Jr., Ozuna, and Duvall have all gone yard. The Atlanta Braves are hoping Kyle Wright is on his A-game, and he did end the regular season on a positive note as he gave up 2 earned runs in his last 2 starts. Atlanta is just the better overall team in this series, and their bats will make up for Wright and the young struggles. Final Score Prediction, Atlanta Braves win 6-4.
